Farmers join in protest that involves over 50,000 people, according to organizers

Over 50,000 people came to protest in the Great National Assembly Square on December 6, according to the organizers. The farmers, who came with their machinery to the capital city, joined in the protest. President-elect Maia Sandu said that it is our duty to protect the Constitution, the country, the people of this country. “We will do this together – snap elections!” Maia Sandu told the crowd that also included the leader of the Our Party Renato Usatyi and the leader of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip, IPN reports.

Vasile Myrzenko, executive director of the National Farmers Federation of Moldova, said the people were condemned to poverty by persons who serve the oligarchs, the mafia, evil forces from the country and outside it. The farmers last week mounted protests, but those who are in power did nothing to help them. The farmers decided to join in because, after such a difficult year, with such a severe drought, the government even increased the fiscal burden borne by them. “These are limited persons who have nothing to do with the people and the country. We consider they are traitors, intruders and thieves and demand that they should resign,” said Vasile Myrzenko, noting that the farmers will stop at the entrances to the city and a part of them will come to central Chisinau.

Mayor of Strășeni Valentina Casian said that Moldova should get rid of this government that does not bear responsibility for what’s going on in villages. They don’t care how the people live, but the people want a better life here, at home. “The Republic of Moldova is not a business. The Republic of Moldova is not the business of Dodon and Shor. Dignity, confidence, common sense should be restored in Moldova,” she noted.

National Unity Party leader, MP Octavian Țîcu said that the treason of Igor Dodon has been a feature typical of the political class during the last 30 years. Putin’s Russia is the origin of all evil things that happen in the Republic of Moldova. “We have only one path – to reunite with Romania as part of the European Union,” noted Octavian Țîcu.

PAS vice president Veronica Roșca said the people cannot be stopped and the people’s dignity cannot be sold. “We decided to restore confidence in the state institutions. Moldova’s time came. Moldova, your time came. Have confidence in your people and in their dignity as they will restore your place on the political map of the world,” stated the MP.

Veteran Constantin Covrig noted that at the 13 protests mounted earlier this year, the veterans promised they will free the country from thief Dodon. “Time has come to get rid of the thieves who turned the country into a police, dictatorial state,” said the veteran.

Liberal Party leader Dorin Chirtoacă said that after 30 years of the gaining of Independence, the people are more united than ever. “Today, December 6, we show to the whole world that we are facing a more serious tragedy than the pandemic – the tragedy of robbery. We show to the whole world that robbery in Moldova kills more seriously than the pandemic. We today show the pain we have accumulated during 30 years,” stated the Liberal leader.
