The exemption of the agricultural producers from paying income tax for a period of five years, diminution of the VAT from 20% to 8% starting with 2014 and making the development of agriculture a top priority are the demands submitted by agricultural organizations to the Government. If no solutions are suggested during 10 days, the agricultural producers will stage protests on November 23, IPN reports.
The chairman of the National Union of Agricultural Producers “UniAgroProtect” Alexandru Slusari told a news conference that the agricultural sector must be treated as in the EU, where over 40% of the European budget is allocated for developing agriculture. In Moldova, this sector ensures 30% of the workplaces, but gets annually less than 2% of the necessary financing from the state.
According to the chairman of “UniAgroProtect”, after the drought of 2012 none of the acute problems faced in agriculture has been solved. On the contrary, there was increased the value added tax, the oil prices grew chaotically and the food products market was monopolized.
The head of the National Farmers Federation of Moldova Valeriu Cosarciuc said the rural development must be a priority for Moldova, while the good implementation of legislation on subsidization in agriculture and the creation of agricultural centers at the national and regional levels would enable the farmers to organize themselves more efficiently.
According to the data of “UniAgroProtect”, Moldova’s agricultural sector provides 56% of the country’s population with products.
