The popular Russian actress Yulia Rutberg will star on Wednesday, May 28, in the one-actor show “All that Jazz” as part of the VIII International Festival of Theatrical Arts BITEI 2008 (Bienniale of “Eugene Ionesco” Theater), Info-Prim Neo reports. The show is an invitation to abandon for one hour this crazy world full of vanities and find the joy of human interaction. The actress, renowned for her numerous roles in theatrical and film productions, rejects the idea of a well-defined script, choosing improvisation instead. The artist recites poems, talks to the public, dances and sings in different languages. A savorous show built on monologues about art and the inner self, All That Jazz covers a wide range of genres – from the stories told by Irakli Andronikov to Liza Minelli's cabaret shows. The actress told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday she has never made plans for the next day and that is why she didn't have a clue how the spectacle in Chisinau would go. Alongside Yulia Rutberg the stage of the Chekhov Theater will host three musicians. The costumer will also appear on the stage, as the director of the troupe will operate the lights. Everyone in the troupe will do whatever they will want to do, the artist explained. Yulia Rutberg said she was very glad she could see again Chisinau at the invitation of her friend, the Moldovan director Petru Vutcarau. After a 15-year break, the city seems different to her, yet impressive, thanks to its new buildings and parks, the sea of green trees, smiling passers-by and nice fellows. For his part, Petru Vutcarau said he was very happy to have managed to bring Yulia Rutberg to Chisinau, “not just a prodigious actress, but also an exceptional person and a very good friend”. The VIII International Festival of Theatrical Arts BITEI 2008 (Bienniale of “Eugene Ionesco” Theater) themed “Crossroads”is taking place from May 24 to June 1, bringing together 27 theatrical troupes from 12 countries.
