Family-type orphanages to join summer camp
Those 55 family-type orphanages from Moldova and three foster-type families educating over 170 children below 16 will attend a summer camp called “Protection and safety”. The event will take place from August 5 to 7 in the Children Resort “Prietenia” in Cosnita village, Dubasari district, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The camp is organized by the Moldovan NGO CCF (child, community, family) with the financial support of Hope and Homes for Children from UK and the OSCE Mission.
Cristian Postu, a social assistant of CCF, has told Info-Prim Neo the leisure program envisages activities for children, educating parents and professional parental assistants. The elder children aged 14-16 will visit a “professionalization” Center called “The Hope Island” and a will attend family planning courses.
The family-type orphanages represent an alternative to traditional orphanages and raise from 3 to 7 children in their own house, including their own kids. The families starting such kind of orphanages get salaries, retirement pensions, daily allowances to pay utilities and to buy coal and wood. The children living in such families get annual indemnities, do not pay for renting textbooks and are fed free at school. There are now 55 family-type orphanages in Moldova.
Developing the alternative services is a priority of the reform of the Children Caring System unfolded by the Government. It aims to reduce the number of children boarded by the Government by half till 2012.
