The Family of the businessman Piotr Sari, shot dead, in July 2003, near his house in Chisinau, made a public appeal on Wednesday, November 8, to the president Vladimir Voronin, soliciting help and protection against what they called the abuse of the communist MP Vasile Iovv in his relations with the members of the family. On Wednesday, November 8, Piotr Sari’s wife, Eugenia, told a press conference that she hopes that justice bodies exercise their functions in order to protect the good name of her husband, as well as of their sons, to whom the Iovv family tries to ascribe criminal activities. According to her words, everything her sons do are only attempts to retrieve the good name of their father and to continue their legal and fair business. The family considers that the real cause of murdering Petru Sari is his intention to tell President Vladimir Voronin some compromising information, including about Vasile Iovv. Eugenia Sari says that her husband tried repeatedly to reach the president, but each time was hampered by the efforts of Iovv. She also said that all financial and moral pressure, exercised by Iovv on her family made them suspect that the assassination of Petru Sari has been ordered by this MP. That is why she says she is afraid that Vasile Iovv will do to her sons what he did to her husband. According to Eugenia Sari, although the murderers of the businessmen had been convicted, they were but paid killers, and the true assassin remains in liberty. These days, Sari family notified the General Prosecutor Office about their suspicions about the implication of Vasile Iovv in the assassination of Petru Sari. Eugenia Sari was accompanied at the conference by her sons, Constantin and Eugen, who took over their father’s business. They assert that they are subject to pressures exercised by the MP Iovv, as well as by his son Dumitru, with whom the Sari family has common business. Eugen Sari specified that, during last years, dilapidations of equipment of million of dollars have been made from enterprises in which he and his brother are co-owners with Dumitru Iovv. According to his words, at the beginning of 2005, he had a personal discussion with Dumitru Iovv, who threatened him with punishment of the whole Sari family and assured him that no grievance or legal proceedings initiated by the family will ever be accepted in the justice.
