Family Festival will be preceded by awareness-raising activities in 10 districts
Every second marriage in Moldova ends in divorce, every fourth woman is a victim of domestic violence, while every fifth child has one or both of the parents working abroad. These data were presented by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, which will stage the Family Festival on May 16 in cooperation with the United Nations in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
It is the second Family Festival organized in Moldova on the occasion of the World Family Day that is marked on May 15.
According to a communiqué signed by Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga and the UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova Kaarina Immonen, the Family Festival aims to promote the family values, address the problems faced by the families and identity solutions to them.
“A complex and multilateral reaction is needed to tackle these problems, involving the authorities, international organizations, civil society and the community,” it is said in the communiqué.
The Family Festival will be preceded by a series of events dedicated to the World Family Day, including contests for students, awareness-raising activities etc. They will be carried out in ten districts between May 10 and 15.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of the Interior.
