The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the allocation of 1 million lei to each of the families of the victims of the Chisinau International Airport shooting incident. The money will be provided from the Government’s reserve fund, IPN reports.

The relatives of the senior sub-officer of the Border Control Unit of the Chisinau International Airport Border Police Sector Sergey Muntean and of the airport security inspector Igor Ciofu, who were killed on June 30, will get by 1 million lei.

In the Cabinet’s meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean approved of the prompt and professional intervention of the police patrol that did its best to prevent hostage taking and isolated the criminal. The actions taken immediately after the incident helped to strengthen airport security. A meeting will be staged at 3pm on July 14 to take difficult, but absolutely necessary decisions following the airport incident.

The two officers were awarded the Military Merit Medal posthumously.
