The Ministry of Health refuted the presence of the Ebola virus disease on the territory of Moldova. However, the person who was suspected of infection remains under the supervision of doctors of the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba”, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Health Svetlana Cotelea told a news conference that the person admitted to “Toma Ciorba” Hospital is a citizen of Japan. He arrived in Chisinau by plane from Istanbul in the morning of August 29. The man had fever and symptoms of cold and the authorities of the Chisinau airport decided to inform the competent bodies.
Within the primary epidemiological investigations, it was established that the person is not infected with Ebola. Officials of the National Public Health Center contacted the Japanese health authorities, which informed that there are no confirmed or suspect cases of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in Japan.
About 3,000 people have been infected with the Ebola virus disease so far. Half of them died.
