The Ministry of Education and Research has decided to extend the fall break by a calendar week for students in primary, secondary and higher education in the administrative units under coronavirus code red advisories. Under the order signed by Minister Anatolie Topala, the break is extended until November 7, IPN reports.
Extracurricular educational institutions will also remain closed to children.
The Ministry is instructing the heads of educational institutions to establish flexible work arrangements through the extended break, with only essential staff to remain on duty.
The extended break will be recouped at the end of the first semester, with arrangements to be established by each institution depending on institutional capacity, availability of teachers and working hours.
Educational establishments located outside red areas will resume face-to-face classes on November 1.
Initially slated for October 27-31, the fall break began earlier, on October 23, due to surging coronavirus numbers.
