The works to build the Fălești water pipeline will be finished by the end of this year. The announcement was made in a meeting convened by Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Liviu Volconovici. This involved representatives of the North Development Agency and the Fălești District Council and specialists of the Ministry, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.
Liviu Volconovici said this project was included in the Common Program Document for 2017-2020 so that the Government recently decided to redistribute some of the allocations for the Ministry’s programs.
Pipes on a distance of over 8,000 km and a number of connections have been installed so far. Ten more km of water pipes are to be built and the pipeline is to be connected to the water treatment station. The population in Fălești district and five villages of Glodeni and Ungheni districts will have access to water supply and sewerage services when the project is completed.
The works cost 35.5 million lei. A sum of 14.5 million lei was been allocated from the National Regional Development Fund and another 21 million lei is to be released by this yearend.
The project was launched in 1986, but the works were stopped because of a shortage of funds. In 2016, the Fălești Distrcit Council applied to the National Regional Development Fund to obtain more financing for continuing the project.
