MPs and NGO members discuss the concept of a mechanism that would offer concessions to grown-ups and children with rare diseases and with autism. The authorizing by the authorities and the wearing by such persons of a distinctive sign with the logo “I’m here” will enable these persons to enjoy preferential services, such as serving outside line at the shop, filling stations, airport, customs offices, institutions that offer banking or document issuing services, IPN reports.
The concept was discussed in a roundtable meeting in Parliament staged by the commission on social protraction, health and family in concert with the public association “The Rain Children”.
The commission’s secretary Maria Pancu said that it is very important to inform society and prepare this to react appropriately and emphatically to the problems faced by persons with special needs.
“We will support any proposal designed to improve the quality of life of these persons,” said commission member Ana Oglinda.
Commission member Liliana Grosu underlined the importance of cultivating a tolerant attitude to the persons with special needs and said the idea of wearing a distinctive sign telling those around that the person has a difficulty and should be treated with greater care is a method of educating society.
The public association “The Rain Children” was created by a group of parents whose children were diagnosed with rare diseases. Currently, the association has over 60 beneficiaries all over the country.
