Extraparliamentary parties assess their chances of winning legislative elections

The leaders of extraparliamentary parties consider they are discriminated in relation to the parliamentary parties and have no chance of entering Parliament after the November 30 elections. They made such statements in the program “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

Nicolae Chirtoaca, who heads the People’s Force Party, said the lack of the necessary financial resources represents a key obstacle. “The situation in our country is very uncertain. Those who have money, order the music. The political parties that do not have their own TV companies, do not control media outlets, do not have huge sums in bank accounts and do not have administrative resources, have no chance of wining the elections and are thus in unequal positions. The 25,000 lei offered by the state to a party for the election campaign is a derisory sum at a time when a poster in the election campaign costs €700. The providers of advertising services always increase prices several times in the election period. The minimal costs incurred by a party in the election period come to €1.2 million. The oligarchic parties spend 5-7 times more. The state institutions must take measures, but they do nothing. If you are not corrupt, you are outside the system,” he stated.

The head of the movement “New Force” Valeriu Plesca is also pessimistic about the chances of entering Parliament. He harshly criticized the current government, saying those who are now in power do their utmost to remain in power. “What is going on today is a shame. Moldova cannot go on with such political groups. Moldova can fail as a state owing to the thieves-politicians,” he said.

Mihai Petrache, chairman of the Centrist Union of Moldova, said the Republic of Moldova is doomed to be governed by oligarchic parties. “In our society, there is a myth that only the large parties must come to power. Not only once the large parties weakened the small ones. The people are thirsty for power. We are thus in an impasse,” he stated.

Ion Dron, who heads the Association “Justice and Fairness”, said the Moldovans are not an active people able to choose. “I welcome the courage of those who became involved in the electoral struggle, regardless of the resources they possess. Regretfully, the Moldovans are not active, but reactive. Once they destroyed buildings, but now they cannot be heard. Our political class depends on our civic position. Why doesn’t our public TV channel have a program where the extraparliamentary parties could also state their stances?” he asked.
