Almost 184 million lei are to be allocated to the main fund of mandatory health insurance. This money will be used to finance dialysis services, which were previously contracted as part of hospital healthcare. Also, additional expenses for food and commuting will be covered during the outpatient treatment of people with tuberculosis. Further, this will also mean more money for chemotherapeutic drugs for cancer patients.
In addition to the 184 million lei that will be used to cover the expenses needed to implement the mandatory health insurance program, another 200 million lei will be directed to cover the initially approved deficit. The amendments to the Law on mandatory health insurance funds for 2019 were adopted in two readings by the Parliament, at its July 31 meeting.
The National Health Insurance Company says that the increase of the revenues of the mandatory health insurance funds is explained by the additional accumulation of funds from insurance premiums in the form of a percentage contribution from the salary and other earnings, from the premiums in a fixed amount, as well as from the single tax collected from the residents of information technology parks.
At the same time, the revenues from the transfers from the State budget will be reduced by 17.6 million lei for implementing the project "Modernization of the health sector" due to the extension of its implementation period.
The amendments to the Law on compulsory health insurance funds for 2019 will enter into force once published in the Official Gazette.
