External trade with services registers positive balance of over USD 5 mln in second trimester

Moldova exported in the second trimester of 2006 services totaling to USD 127.05 mln, decreasing by 17.9% compared with the similar period of the last year. At the same time, the imports of services constituted USD 12.96 mln and increased by 15.3% compared with the second trimester of 2005. In this way, compared with the external trade with goods, the trades of goods registers a positive balance, which amounted to USD 5.09 mln in the second trimester and increased 2.6-fold compared with the similar period of the last year. Official statistic data show that services provided to CIS increased by 24.7% and in the rest of the world – by 15.4%. At the same time, imports of services from CIS went up by 13.6% and from the rest of the world – by 15.9%. The main positions in the external trade with services belong to the fields of transportation (39.2%), travels (34.5%) and communications (9.7%). Transport services had a surplus of USD 16.69 mln, 2.6-fold more compared with the second trimester of 2005. Travels had a deficit of USD 21.12 mln, 3.6-fold higher compared with the one of the similar period of the last year. In communications, the surplus constituted USD 11.08 mln, by 30.4% more. In the first semester, the exports of services amounted to USD 105.05 mln, and imports – to USD 104.52 mln. The balance of trade was positive and reached the total sum of USD 500 thousand.
