Moldova’s exports in the first 10 months of this year increased by 10.6% compared with the corresponding period last year to US$1.9 billion. The imports in the period rose by 5.2% to US$4.4 billion, the National Bureau of Statistics has said, quoted by IPN.

The exports to the EU represented over 46% of the total exports, while to the CIS states - 39%. The exports to Turkey, Romania and Germany increased, while to Italy, Kazakhstan, Hungary and Russia decreased.

The exports of manufactured goods were the largest in volume, followed by exports of food products and live animals. The exports of beverages and tobacco ranked fifth.

In January – October, imports from such countries as Romania, China and Ukraine rose compared with the same period last year, while from Russia, Greece and Poland diminished.

The imports of mineral fuels, lubricants and derivatives ranked first, followed by the imports of machines and transport equipment. The imports of electricity grew by 87.7%, while of gas and industrial products obtained from gas declined.
