Exports to the EU, 65% of total volume. Grapes, plums and cherries at the top

The European Union has become Moldova's main trading partner, and exports to this market have grown considerably in the last decade, exceeding 60% of the total volume. These data were presented in the "Export Vision" market study, IPN reports.

Expert Andrei Crigan from Gateway-Partners explained that ten years ago the share of trade with the EU was 48%, but now it has reached 65%. Among the most exported products are grapes, plums and cherries, which are becoming increasingly present on European shelves.

"Moldovan exports have grown and diversified, even from the Transnistrian region, which is not experiencing its best period at the moment," the expert pointed out.

According to Irina Tolstousov, Deputy Director of the Investment Agency, Romania currently accounts for 30% of Moldovan exports to the EU.

Irina Tolstousov also specified that "Just this week there was an event that talked about Moldova's resilience in the face of the crises that keep arising regionally, locally and internationally, and one of the points that focused on the solutions that we can do internally is a multidimensional approach from the export perspective".

The Export Vision program, launched in 2018, supports local entrepreneurs by providing them with information about European market requirements and export opportunities. So far, more than 700 local companies have benefited from the program in the 26 editions organized.
