Moldova’s goods exports in the first four month of this year came to US$1.389 billion, down 4.8% compared with the corresponding period last year. Romania was the country of destination for 33% of all exports, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the exports of Moldovan goods in January-April 2023 came to US$942.6 million (about 68% of all exports), a 18.2% decline on the same period of 2022, which influenced the decrease of the total net value of exports by 14.4%.

Reexports of foreign goods, after being processed and classical ones, in January-April 2023 added up to US$446.4 million (slightly over 32% of all exports), up 45.7% compared with the corresponding period of 2022. This rise contributed to a 9.6% growth in the total exports.

Road motor vehicles represented 79.9% of all exports, being followed by maritime transport (15%), railway transport (about 3%), air transport (1.2%) fixed transport installations (1%).

Exports of goods to the EU member states (EU–27) in the first four months of this year totaled US$861.7 million, down 11.3% on 2022, constituting 62% of all exports (-4.6%), while exports to the CIS came to US$346.5 million, up US$168 million or 1.9 times, representing 25% of all exports (+12.8%).

Among the main countries of destination for exports in the period were Romania (32.9% of all exports), Ukraine (16.7%, up 11.3% on January-April 2022), Italy (6.1%), Germany (5.4%), Russia (4.1%), Turkey (4%), the Czech Republic (3.7%), Poland (2.6%), Belarus (2.4%), Spain (2.1%) etc.
