Exports of “Franzeluta” bakery go up

The bakery “Franzeluta” started to export more products. Margareta Bologan, head of the company’s external sales division, has told IPN that the export plan in May was overfulfilled by 8%. “Franzeluta” exports its products to such countries as Canada, the U.S., Australia and the EU member states.

The exports include mainly frozen bread, cakes and biscuits. Canada and the U.S. import primarily frozen cakes from “Franzeluta”. Almost 60% of the produced ring-shaped biscuits are intended for export.

The company also makes Kosher certificated products that are subject to rigorous inspections.    The Kosher certification shows that the products can be eaten by the Hebraic religious community. They do not contained genetically modified organisms and hybrids coming from different species. 44% of the Kosher products are bought by Jews. Margareta Bologan said they plan to extend the variety of Kosher certificated products so as to cover a grater market, these products being mainly in demand in the U.S.

According to Margareta Bologan, “Franzeluta” finds foreign clients particularly at the international exhibitions in which it takes part. At a recent exhibit in Romania, the company’s cake “De Botez” (“For Christening”) was awarded, while the jury remained impressed by the bread with fruit. The company intends to launch soon new products, including three types of wafers with walnut filling, vanilla chocolate, two types of jam rolls and several types of frozen bread that is exclusively for export.

“Franzeluta”, which is 52% owned by the state, has exported products to Australia for about three years, while to Canada and the U.S. – for 8-9 years.
