Expo to remember Grigore Vieru held second day after funerals

On the second day after Grigore Vieru's funerals, the Chisinau-based Expo Center “Constantin Brancusi” opened an exhibition in his memory, featuring work of arts inspired by his poems. The launch of the exhibition was attended by Raisa Vieru, the wife of the late poet, Info-Prim Neo reports. Raisa Vieru apologized for the fewness of her words: “After the tragedy, I'm not able to gather my thoughts together and words don't come easily”. She thanked, however, the organizers for the exhibition, saying she was grateful for this first token of appreciation of the poet's work. A number of painters also attended the event. Some of them, including Lica Sanciuc and Gheorghe Vrabie, ventured to represent Vieru's poems in paint. Lica Sanciuc recalled moments of collaboration with Grigore Vieru, which began in early 70's. “He had this naiveness to make adults descend to the level of a child. The idea of the book Albinuta /{The Little Bee}/ appeared with the transition to the Latin script when children had no books to learn from”. Gheorghe Vrabie said he thinks it's a natural thing that the exhibition also features paintings inspired by Mihai Eminescu's poems. The exhibition is the result of the joint efforts by “Constantin Brancusi” Center, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Arts Museum, and the Romanian Literature Museum Mihail Kogalniceanu. The exhibition, launched on January 21, will run through February 15, the second day after Vieru's 74th anniversary, which he didn't live four weeks to see.
