The National Army combat engineers in March neutralized over 500 explosive devices in settlements of Straseni, Causeni, Calarasi, Ungheni, Anenii Noi, and Orhei districts, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Ministry of Defense says the destroyed explosives included bombs, artillery shells, hand grenades, and fuzes.

As many as 323 cartridges destroyed by the Sappers Battalion “Codru” dated from the time of World War II. They were discovered by a resident of Branesti village of Orhei district during construction works.

This year the National Army combat engineers have carried out 36 demining operations and destroyed 551 explosive devices in different settlements of the country.
