An explosion occurred in a second-floor apartment situated on Mircea cel Batran Blvd. in Chisinau’s Ciocana district in the morning of April 22. An 18-year-old man was injured. Allegedly, the explosion was caused by a gas leakage, IPN reports.

Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, said that the call to the firefighters was made at 10.19. The explosion didn’t cause a fire. It is not yet known if other apartments were also affected.

According to eyewitnesses, the hurt man is the owner of the apartment. Pieces of the window glass were spread on an area of 25-30 meters.

Petru Cravet, spokesman for the National Emergency Medicine Center, said the young man was taken to the National Children’s Hospital “Emilian Cotaga”. He suffered sever brain injury, burns and his reparatory system was affected. He was connected to artificial respiration apparatus.
