An apartment was almost entirely destroyed and four more apartments located at the same floor were partially damaged as a result of a powerful explosion which occurred on November 15 around 20.00 on Gradinarilor Street 60 in Chisinau. According to the Ministry of Interior, the dwelling with four rooms was situated at the fifth floor of the apartment block. Lately no one was living there; the apartment was recently repaired and put for sale. The explosion was so powerful that the entry door was broken and was rushed on the stairs as a result of the deflagration, the windows were also broken apart, and the walls were damaged. The apartments situated at the same floor, as well as the one from the upper floor were damaged too. By a lucky chance no victims were registered. The mobile teams of the Rascani district police office, those of the Exceptional Situations Departments, specialists of “Moldova Gaz” and “Union Fenosa” analyzed the apartment in order to find out the circumstances of the blast. The main version is that the steam heating system installed in the bathroom and connected to the electric power network exploded. It is supposed that the pressure adjustment device failed. At present a detailed expertise is carried out in order to clear up the accident.
