The pro-European parties will most probably be unable to form a coalition after the November 30 elections and a broad coalition involving the Communist Party would be needed. Such conclusions were formulated in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, where there were discussed the data of the latest sociological poll, IPN reports.

Arcadie Barbarosie, director of the Institute of Public Policy, said that even if the polls cannot forecast the election outcome exactly, they predict the formation of a broad coalition. “There is a danger that the three pro-European parties will not win the number of seats of MP needed to form a coalition. The circumstances will make them form a broad coalition together with the Communist Party,” he said.

Political analyst Alexei Tulbure considers the formation of a coalition between the Communists and the Liberal-Democrats is the ideal variant as the participation of the Democratic Party in this coalition would negatively influence the future government. “If the Communist Party enters discussions on principles and values with the PDM and PLDM, these discussions will never end,” he stated.

On the other hand, political analyst Oazu Nantoi considers that society will have to more actively engage so as to determine the formation of a pro-European collation after the November 30 elections. “There will be no viable coalition if the politicians are not forced to take certain steps. The pro-European idea is mostly associated with the Liberal Democratic Party. Therefore, I think that namely the PLDM should be the nucleus of the future pro-European coalition, on condition that corruption is fought efficiently,” he said.

The program’s permanent invitee Igor Botan expressed his pessimism about the formation of a viable post-electoral coalition and about the quality of the future government. “I’m skeptical about the capacity of the politicians who will enter the future legislature to do something good for Moldova,” he stated.
