Experts who took part in the program “Politics” on TV7 channel stated differing opinions as to the correctness of the election campaign this autumn, IPN reports.
The head of the Association “Justice and Fairness” Ion Dron leveled harsh criticism at the political parties that started the election campaign. “The election campaign began with behavioral deviations on the part of political players. It is serious when they use dirty money and methods that are far form being honest. For example, Renato Usatyi organizes concerts with the aim of corrupting the voters. Members of some parties share out food products. I would understand if Renato Usatyi staged concerts during another four years or those young people from the PDM took potatoes to the people every autumn, not only before the elections. The ruling parties also use the administrative resources. I’m for the Europeans course, but it’s unacceptable for the law to be broken in the name of this idea,” he stated.
Chisinau councilor of the Communist Party Victor Gurau also pleaded for the correct conduct of the election campaign. “It will be a harsh and dirty campaign, but I hope that in general it will be within the law,” he said.
Though he is more optimistic about the holding of the election campaign, the head of the Center for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu said the legislation should be toughened up. “We must amend the legislation so that a party could be removed from the electoral race for violations of the law. They will thus think twice. But the institutions that enforce the law must be fully independent for this to happen,” he stated.
Corneliu Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, considers this autumn’s elections will be partially free and the election campaign will be generally within the law.
