The separatist Transnistrian administration will resort to a series of provocations in the election period in a move to safeguard Russia’s interests and the latest actions taken by the Transnistrian leader confirm this. Such statements were made by experts invited to the program “Fabrika” produced by Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
According to the head of the Reintegration Office Gheorghe Balan, Tiraspol is looking for pretexts for Russia to be able to intervene in Moldova. “We see that Tiraspol looks for pretexts and makes accusations against Chisinau. Similar pretexts are employed by Moscow. Every time Moldova will take a step towards the European integration, Tiraspol and Moscow will react with provocations. It’s worrisome that the Transnistrian side for the third time refuses to take part in the talks in the 5+2 format,” he said.
Former member of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) Ion Leahu said that the Transnistrian leader is incurably ill and he is paving the way for leaving his post. The JCC is inefficient and cannot cope with the problems. “The JCC has no power. It is a dead body. It’s unable to negotiate at least the agenda of the meetings,” he stated.
Analyst Petru Bogatu believes that this way Tiraspol is preparing to re-launch Putin’s project “Novorossia”. By its provocations, Tiraspol promotes the interests of Russia.
Former MP Stefan Secareanu considers that the last acts of the Transnistrian leader are connected with the situation in Ukraine. “Shevchuk is a tool. He executes and does not even think when he signs the plans designed in the laboratories of the Kremlin. Putin is not the man who concedes. He will look for ways out. After the NATO Summit, Ukraine enjoys increased attention and Russia is alarmed,” he said.
The program’s permanent invitee, journalist Cristian Tabara said Tiraspol’s actions are due to the more intense feeling of tension. “This permanent hypocrisy is aimed only at provoking Chisinau and at influencing it to make even a minor mistake so that Moscow could intervene on the pretext of defending its co-nationals,” he stated.
Yevgeny Shevchuk recently ordered that all the civil protection shelters in Transnistria should be prepared for use by November 1 this year.
