Experts about non-investiture of Leanca 2 Government

The fact that the Leanca 2 Government wasn’t voted in by Parliament represents first of all a failure of the ruling alliance consisting of the PLDM and PDM. Such conclusions were formulated in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

Political commentator Roman Mihaes considers the non-voting in of the Government worsened the political crisis and there is yet only one chance to avoid the early elections. But it will be a mistake to field Iurie Leanca for premiership again. “Proposing again Iurie Leanca for the post of Prime Minister means causing early elections. I fear Iurie Leanca’s insistence to head the future Cabinet is nothing else but attempt to get rid of responsibility for facilitating the fraud at Banca de Economii. In fact, the events that happened in Parliament showed that there are two groups inside the PLDM – one headed by Filat and another one headed by Leanca. It’s not excluded that we will soon witness a split inside the PLDM,” he stated.

On the other hand, Sergiu Ostaf, executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights, considers that the PLDM should field Iurie Leanca again for premiership. “I think it’s possible from all the viewpoints to nominate again Iurie Leanca as he is the politician who enjoys the confidence of the largest part of society, of the foreign partners and the mass media. A more powerful candidate is not wanted because such a candidate would not yield to manipulation. They probably want to repeat the experience of the PCRM and will look for a person like Vasile Tarlev, who was like a puppet in Voronin’s hands. If the PLDM puts forward another candidate than Leanca, the PLDM will be severely punished by the voters,” he said.

Constitutional law expert Vitalie Gamurari made it clear that Vlad Filat is to blame for the fact that the Leanca 2 Government wasn’t voted in. “Fielding Leanca was an electoral obligation, not a wish of the PLDM. The negotiations with the PL and PCRM should have been held by the head of the PLDM. This is a political dialogue between decision makers of the parties,” he said.

The head of the Ecologist Movement of Moldova Alecu Renita considers the non-giving of a vote of confidence to Leanca is a consequence of the bilateral agreement between the PDM and PLDM. “It is the failure not of Iurie Leanca, but of the bilateral coalition. What happened to Iurie Leanca will happen to any bill that will be put forward by the PLDM or PDM,” he stated.
