While some experts consider the parliamentary elections were fair and the implementation of reforms will be stepped up, some experts are skeptical and pessimistic in this respect. Contradictory opinions on the issue were stated in the program “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.
Political analyst Vitalie Andrievschi formulated optimistic scenarios as regards the formation of a pro-European government. “The pro-European parties will quickly reach an agreement and will form an alliance. They will elect the Parliament’s administration and will form the Government. These parties made many mistakes and I hope they learned the lesson. This was the last time that they were able to garner votes. I think a difficult period follows for the pro-European parties as they will have to work hard not to betray the people’s trust,” he said.
The representative of ITAR-TASS News Agency in Moldova Valery Demidetski said last Sunday’s elections divided society even more and he is skeptical about the European integration chances of Moldova. “Many changes took place in the European Union and not all the leaders from there want to see Moldova in the EU. On the other hand, the number of Moldovans who want the country to become part of the EU decreased dramatically. As to the future government, I think the situation of 2010 will repeat,” he stated.
The program’s permanent invitee, political analyst Igor Botan said the parliamentary elections weren’t fair and he is pessimistic about the implementation of reforms in Moldova. “If Renato Usatyi had remained in the electoral race and the Communist Reformist Party had been excluded, the left parties would have won a majority of seats in Parliament. If Moldova had been a state with the rule of law, such things wouldn’t have happened. The pro-European parties caused hysteria among the population by forecasting a danger similar to Ukraine’s ‘maidan’. There is nothing to be proud of now, after these elections, but I hope this victory will oblige the pro-European parties to do their job. Anyway, I have doubts about the doing of reforms,” he stated.
