Exit-polls show Basescu to face Geoana in run-off
The results of the exit-poll conducted by INSOMAR show that incumbent president Traian Basescu, the candidate of the Democratic Liberal Party, won Sunday's first round of the presidential election, with 32.2 percent of the vote, followed by Mircea Geoana of the Social Democratic Party, and Crin Antonescu of the National Liberal Party PNL, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the latest results, offered by the news portal realitatea.net, Mircea Geoana polled 31.2 percent and Crin Antonescu 22.2 percent of the vote. This puts Basescu and Geoana in the second round, scheduled for December 6.
“The key of success is now in Crin Antonescu's pocket”, Romanian political analysts commented.
