Exhibition of paintings by laureates of six previous editions of IBP Chisinau

The seventh edition of the International Biennial of Painting (IBP) Chisinau 2021 for the first time includes a separate exhibition that consists of 24 paintings made by the laureates of the previous six editions, who are from different cultural areas, IPN reports.

”These paintings are kept in the collection of the National Museum of Arts of Moldova. This selection reveals the creative effervescence of a group of artists who belong to different cultural areas, with works on different themes and with impressive stylistic dynamics,” said the director of the National Museum of Arts Tudor Zbârnea, the curator of the exhibition of the International Biennial of Painting Chisinau 2021.

Romanian art citric and historian Pavel Șușară said it is very hard to identify a country or a significant place on earth that wouldn’t have gotten to Chisinau in a way or another. “In this situation, the new elements that intervene in the succession of editions should be looked for in significant details, in participants’ attitude and behavior changes and, evidently, in the substance of the works themselves,” he stated.

The event is held as part of the European Heritage Days under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, being organized by the Arts Center “Amprente”, the National Museum of Arts of Moldova and the Union of Plastic Artists in partnership with the Culture Division of the Chisinau City Hall and the Sturdza Family Fund.
