Exhibition of creative ideas mounted by Embassy of Latvia in Chisinau

An exhibition entitled “Designers & Makers in the creative neighborhoods of Riga”, with examples of creative businesses started by designers and producers from Latvia’s capital Riga, was opened in Chisinau. The event is supported by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Latvia’s embassies abroad, IPN reports.

In the opening of the exhibit, Vita Dobele, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Latvia in Chisinau, said the event is designed to present Riga, which is the capital of the European culture in 2014, and the results of the work of the people of art from this city.

The exhibit includes a number of stands with pictures and different creative products, from bicycles, robot toys, clothes and shoes to patisserie. Vita Dobele said that each stand presents the story of a producer, with the exhibit involving both young designers and designers with successful businesses.

Ieva Ziborte, director of Art Modernists company, which is one of the participants in the exhibit, said that in 2009 Latvia, as other European states, faced a serious economic crisis that left many people of art without work. Afterward, these people began to gradually put into practice their ideas, starting small businesses that later became profitable.

Ieva Ziborte added that the exhibition was launched one year and a half ago and showcases creations of people of art from Riga. It presents all kinds of ideas and can attract visitors of different ages and interests.

The exhibit can be visited at Leogrand & Convention Center between December 4 and 7.
