Exhibition of contemporary plastic arts dedicated to Mihai Eminescu

An exhibition of contemporary plastic arts titled “Eminescian Horizon III” was inaugurated on the birthday of the poet Mihai Eminescu at the Exhibition Center “Constantin Brancusi” in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The exhibit is dedicated to the great poet but does not include works based on Eminescu’s creation. Tudor Braga, director of the Center “Constantin Brancusi”, says that the exhibition expresses a sentiment of piety to the national poet who remains a figure of reference for the Romanian culture. According to Tudor Braga, the exhibition includes works made in the last three years by artists of different ages. By January 27, the visitors can admire works by the renowned artist Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu and by young creators that graduated from artistic education establishments not long ago. The about 200 exhibited works represent traditional plastic arts (painting, sculpture, decorative art) as well as nontraditional arts like the object-works made by the artist Anatol Rurac, theatre photographs and costumes. Painter Sergiu Cotofan, author of the painting “Sleep”, told Info-Prim Neo that like Eminescu he is inspired by nature, tends to and is attracted by all that is beautiful. The homage rendered to the poet is a proof of the orientation to creation, poetry, arts, which can make the society better and purer, the artist said. The artists of Moldova have often reflected Mihai Eminescu and his works in their creation. The people know very well the poet’s bust made by the sculptor Lazar Dubinovschi, the monument in the National Theatre’s square created by Tudor Cataraga, the paintings “Meeting of Mihai Eminescu and Ion Creanga” by Mihai Grecu or “Eminescu-Tree” by Aurel David and other works.
