The National Library of the Republic of Moldova mounted an anniversary exhibition entitled "Grigore Vieru, a tear of light and eternity" on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the poet's birth. The exhibition includes antemortem and posthumous editions, the author's works translated into other languages – about 100 documents from the collections of the library, IPN reports.
"The exhibition represents tribute paid to a genius, whose poems remain a national treasure and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for future generations. The poet's words, like tears of light, crossed ages and remained engraved in everyone's hearts," reads a press release issued by the National Library.
In the exhibition space of the library, visitors will find the first editorial debut of the poet's student years, the children's booklet "The Alarm", followed by other books for the little ones: the volume of verses, stories and songs "Făgurași", "The Forest Clock".
There are also multiple volumes for adults: "Sunday of Words", "Close", "The Fire Root", "Christ Has No Fault", "The Book of Snowdrops". Grigore Vieru's books translated into various languages and a collection of songs are also presented.
The documents were classified into the categories “Eternal Legacy of the Poet, Grigore Vieru – A Lesson in Patriotism, Grigore Vieru and Music”, "A Life in the Service of the Romanian Language – Echoes and Recognition”.
The exhibition can be visited by April 14 in the central block of the National Library.
