Exhibition dedicated to academician Nicolae Corlateanu

Pictures, scientific works, awards and personal objects of the family of academician Nicolae Corlateanu were presented at the National Museum of History of Moldova within the exhibition “Oak Tree of Caracui” on May 12.  The exhibit was mounted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Romanian linguistics in Moldova, who was an illustrious pedagogue and laureate of many awards.

The Museum’s vice director Elena Postica has told IPN that the event is designed to commemorate academician Nicolae Corlateanu and to show the scientific and cultural heritage of the famous scientist, pedagogue and man of culture. Most of the exhibits form part of the archive of the Corlateanu family.

The exhibition can be visited during two months. Tickets costs between 2 and 10 lei.

Born on May 14, 1915, Nicolae Corltaeanu was a Moldovan linguist who was a titular member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. He was a doctor habilitate, a university professor, an emeritus person in science, a laureate of the National Science Award and a holder of the Order of the Republic. He wrote over 550 scientific and memoirist works. On August 1, 1961, he was chosen as a correspondent member of the Academy. The academician died at the age of 90.
