The Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Moldova houses an exhibition by plastic artist Petru Severin. The exhibit was opened on September 4, Info-Prim Neo reports. Forty-seven paintings representing old buildings, floral and rural landscapes in which the painter combined different techniques are on display. Painting is a part of the artist’s life. His works are a connection between magnetism and mysticism. “I always liked the city streets and their varied aspect. I paint flowers, sceneries and urban landscapes through which I depict life. We change simultaneously with these things. I like combining magnetism and mysticism, as this combination exists in people,” the author said According to Gheorghe Mitru, teacher at the National Museum of Plastic Arts “Igor Vieru”, “the paintings show that the author is fond of the old architecture of the quiet quarters of Chisinau, especially of the architecture of the 19th century. The bright and marked colors prevail. The artist depicts not only urban, but also rural landscapes, the seasons of the year, static nature. These works deserve special attention.” The OSCE Mission to Moldova has housed exhibitions since 2004. The aim of these exhibits is to promote a dialogue through art, said Irina Ilies, senior assistant at the Mission. “We decided to organize different exhibitions as art is boundless. It shapes people’s thoughts and feelings. That’s why we house exhibitions by different Moldovan artists. Petru Severin is one of those artists that charm with his paintings,” she added. The exhibition will be open until September 29, 2009. The works can be bought. Their prices vary between 200 and 2,800 euros. Petru Severin studied at the National College of Plastic Arts “I. Repin” in Chisinau and then at the Latvian Academy of Plastic Arts. He made his debut in Riga in 1973. He had a number of personal exhibitions, including at the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi” in Chisinau.
