Exhibit featuring traditions of Moldovan people on settlement’s day

The traditions of the Moldovan people on the settlement’s day are displayed at a photo exhibition that was opened at the National Museum of Ethnography and History of Moldova on May 5. The exhibit “We invite you to our settlement’s day!” was staged on the occasion of the approaching Saint Gheorghe feast. The pictures were taken in 2006 – 2012 by the Museum’s researchers in cooperation with a group of U.S. and German researchers. The Museum’s director Mihai Ursu has told Info-Prim Neo that the people’s traditions have been examined for a long period and this exhibition is only a first step. A book will be printed afterward. “A lot of work was done during all the seasons. This theme related to the national culture has not been yet examined. We thus decided to do it as such an exhibition is indeed a value,” said Mihai Ursu. Ethnographer Varvara Buzila said that the pictures show the hospitality of the Moldovans, activities carried out in different settlements on their days and the particularities of these days in our cultural area. The exhibit will continue until June 3.
