Executive defers time limit for production of energy from renewable sources
The deadline by which Moldova must produce 6% of the energy used in the country from renewable sources was extended until 2013, under a Government Decision taken Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, this objective was not achieved in 2010 owing to the absence of a normative framework for legally and technically regulating the use of biofuel in transport and of a mechanism for selling mixtures of conventional fuels on the home market.
Valeriu Lazar said there should be examined the possibilities of the agricultural sector so as to determine the areas that can be planted with bioenergy crops, and reviewed the normative framework that regulates the cultivation of these crops.
