Executive Committee of PSRM suggests Igor Dodon as a candidate for President

The Political Executive Committee of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) recommended the party’s National Council to nominate Igor Dodon as a candidate who will run in the presidential elections. The Committee is for holding presidential elections in parallel with early parliamentary elections, IPN reports.

In a press release, the PSRM says its Political Executive Committee ascertained that despite the general incertitude, the lack of a clear view on the electoral process and the method of holding elections and of preparing for them, it is already evident that most of the candidates who have a chance of taking part in elections are generally known.

The district organizations of the PSRM consider the party’s candidate in the person of chairman Igor Dodon must obligatorily take part in the presidential elections. Therefore, the Political Executive Committee recommends the National Council to field this. According to the Committee, the activities for preparing for the election campaign must be started right now.

The Party of Socialists already announced the resumptions of the mass protests. According to the Socialists, these are the only method of exerting pressure on the government, of freeing the public institutions from political control and of defending statehood. The PSRM said it will make use of all the legal methods possible for early legislative elections to be held simultaneously with the presidential elections that were set for October 30.
