Exchange of accusations between Chisinau and Tiraspol

Chisinau and Tiraspol accused each other of resorting to counterproductive unilateral actions that can lead to the destabilization of the situation on the Nistru River. Moldova’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission said that Tiraspol places additional obstacles to the people’s movement over the river. At the same time, Tiraspol says the Moldovan authorities started to criminally investigate representatives of the Transnistrian administration, IPN reports.

According to the Moldovan delegation to the Commission, in winter Tiraspol made changes as regards the movement of people and since then people living on the right bank of the Nistru have encountered difficulties in their movement. Nine representatives of the law enforcement bodies managed by Chisinau have been prevented from moving freely since winter.

The Moldovan delegation called on the Transnistrian delegation not to allow such violations so as to reduce the risk of destabilization in the region.

On the other hand, Tiraspol accuses Chisinau of counterproductive acts as the Moldovan authorities started a criminal case against the head of the Dubasari administration. In a letter addressed to Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov, it is said that the attempts to hold accountable representatives of the Transnistrian administration do not contribute to finding solutions to the Transnistrian conflict.
