The Constitutional Court stopped the examination of the constitutionality of the Government decision to concede the Chisinau International Airport. According to the Court’s president Alexandru Tanase, it is within the competence of the common law courts to establish the legality of conceding the patrimony, IPN reports.
Lawmaker Ion Hadarca, one of the authors of the challenge submitted by the Liberal reformers, told the journalists that the decision to concede the airport will be appealed to a common law court. “We have only to prepare all the arguments needed for the appeal,” he stated.
Communist MP Igor Vremea, one of the authors of a similar challenge filed by Communist lawmakers, said the Constitutional Court’s verdict is regrettable. “The Court didn’t want to become involved in solving an important problem for Moldova. We will thoroughly analyze our next steps and will then make them public,” he said.
The Constitutional Court on October 8 examined two challenges concerning the legality of conceding the airport to a Russian company for a period of 49 years.
