The baby who was found dead in a park in Chisinau in the middle of January was born dead, as the medical examiners determined after completing the examination.

Contacted by IPN for details, deputy head of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office Corneliu Bratunov said the baby died as a result of intrauterine asphyxia. All the materials will be examined, but the prosecutor does not see reasons for starting a criminal case. The legislation punishes infanticide or leaving in danger, but this is not the case.

The woman who gave birth to the baby wasn’t identified and it is thus not known what made her leave the stillborn baby in the park.

The body was found in a park situated on Mihail Sadoveanu St on January 14. The police were called by a passerby.
