Ex-wife of MP Calin Vieru appeals to ECHR

Inesa Vieru, the former wife of MP Calin Vieru, filed an application to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), complaining about the violation of the right to a fair trial, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on November 2, Inesa Vieru said the legal system in Moldova is corrupt and owing to the servile mentality of some of the judges the trials are delayed. She said she divorced Calin Vieru two years ago and they shared the property by consent. It includes several nightclubs, restaurants, plots of land and apartments. “After two years, Calin changed his mind and demanded that everything that was given to me be returned to him. In fact, I don’t know what his intentions are,” Inesa Vieru said. She also said that the judges are delaying examining the lawsuit filed by Calin Vieru to redistribute the property, arguing the minutes of a hearing are missing. According to Inesa Vieru, that hearing did not take place. Asked by reporters if Calin Vieru takes care of the children or visits them, Inesa Vieru said he is a loving father and comes to see his children whenever he wants. Calin and Inesa Vieru have two children aged 18 and, respectively, 12.
