The former heads of state will no longer benefit from work office and personal assistant. This is provided in a bill that was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.
The bill says the social guarantee will be excluded in such cases as expiry of the mandate, dismissal or definitive impossibility of fulfilling the duties of President of the Republic of Moldova.
By a bill adopted earlier, the persons who held the posts of President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister were stripped of state guard following the completion of their duties. The authorities argued such a decision is necessary in order to reduce the costs and optimize the use of public funds.
