Officers of the National Anticorruption Center arrested a former policeman for asking for US$3,000 from an economic entity for influencing other police officers to halt the inspection carried out at the company managed by the denouncer, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center.

The man, aged 57, said he has influence over employees of the Ministry of the Interior. The arrest was made in a recreational place situated on Dacia Blvd. in Chisinau. The man had US$2,500 on him. US$500 of it was earlier received from the businessman under the control of the National Anticorruption Center.

The man faces up to seven years in jail or a fine of up to 60,000 lei for traffic of influence.
