Ex-MP risks remaining without illegal property worth over 450,000 lei

The former Socialist MP Alexandru Jolnaci can have unjustified property to the value of 450,000 lei confiscated and risks being banned from holding public posts. The National Integrity Authority issued an ascertaining document in the name of the ex-MP, pointing to the violation of the legal regime of declaration of property and personal interests, IPN reports.

The examination was initiated in February 2020 and was extended to cover his wife and their minor daughter. This focused on the period while he held the post of district councilor in the Ștefan Vodă District Council and while he sat in Parliament during August 1, 2016 and December 31, 2019.

Analyzing the costs and revenues of the former MP and his family, the inspectors identified a substantial difference of over 450,000 lei by October 1, 2019.

If the ascertaining document remains definitive, Alexandru Jolnaci can be banned from holding a public post during three years. The National Integrity Authority will send the case to court for examination for ordering the confiscation of the illegally obtained property.
