Ex-minister of finance: Draft budgetary-fiscal policy must be reviewed

Some aspects of the 2016 budgetary-fiscal policy must be reviewed or these will cause the people’s dissatisfaction, ex-minister of finance Mihai Manole said in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.

The former minister referred first of all to the differentiated tax on realty. “I don’t know according to what criteria the luxury buildings will be assessed. This category could include the people who built attics, but are far from being well-off. This year I paid a tax of 3,500 lei on real estate. As I work as a teacher, this sum is considerable for me. If the taxes are raised, many citizens will simply be unable to pay them,” stated Mihai Manole.

The ex-minister considers the policy concerning the registration of units of transport brought from abroad is also incorrect. “It is absurd to reduce the road tax (vignette) and to raise the import duties on vehicles. In the Republic of Moldova, there are communities where there are practically no units of transport registered in Moldova. The amounts collected as vignette are lower than the amounts collected as customs and registration duties. The state should motivate the people to register the vehicles in the Republic of Moldova. The budget has a lot to lose,” he stated.
