A former mayor of Truseni village of Chisinau municipality and a cadastral engineer will appear before judges on charges of swindle and appropriation. The two face up to 15 years in jail, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the culprits were arrested in November 2016. They are accused of illegally selling plots of land on which to build homes by indicating in the documents that these were allotted free. The plots were sold through third persons at the price of US$ 10,000 -15,000 each.
The police accumulated evidence about 13 plots owned by the local public administration, which were estimated at 1.6 million lei. Another 40 plots are examined as part of additional investigations within new criminal cases.
To make sure that the damage done by the offense is repaired, the appropriated land and the property of the culprits were confiscated.
In 1999-2011, the Truseni mayor’s office was managed by Mihai Secrieru.
