Eight former employees of a building company were arrested for causing damage estimated at about 50 million lei to a number of investors. The arrests were accompanied by simultaneous searches at a number of addresses, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the 50 million lei was invested by 70 persons in homebuilding in the municipality of Chisinau. The money was misused, being appropriated by managers and other employees of the company. As a result, the building company was unable to fulfill its obligations to investors.

The searches were conducted at the homes and locations of persons who committed the illegalities. The arrested are suspected of swindle, abuse of power and falsification of documents.
