The former director of the state-run enterprise “Calea Ferată din Moldova” (CFM) Iurie Topală was arrested by the Belgian authorities and is to be extradited to the Republic of Moldova. The information was confirmed for IPN by the press officer of the Prosecutor General’s Office Mariana Cherpec.

Iurie Topală was put on the wanted list and a warrant for his arrest was issued following charges of abuse of power committed in the interess of an organized criminal group made against him.

Mariana Cherpec said that it goes to the defective management at CFM in 2015-2019 as a result of which damage of 250 million lei was caused to the state-run enterprise.
