A former prosecutor of the anticorruption prosecutor’s office was arrested on January 26 after being questioned and classed as a suspect in the “Vento” case. He was charged with abuse of power, falsification of public documents, illegal detention or arrest and intentional bringing to justice of an innocent person, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said these actions were committed against the co-owners of the Vento network. “We note that recently, brothers Igor and Adrian Borș, co-owners of the Vento network of gas stations, were rehabilitated after it was determined that in 2018 they were persecuted, detained, arrested, dispossessed of property and illegally held accountable in a case started by order,” the PGO stated in a press release. The preventive measure against the ex-prosecutor is to be decided.
The suspended chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari was charged with the starting of a criminal case by order against the co-owners of the Vento network of gas stations. The Chisinau Appeals Court today is to examine the challenge filed by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases against the January 20 judgment by the Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court by which the prosecutor’s request to remand Viorel Morari in custody was rejected.
