EVO government app surpasses 70 000 downloads. New features in 2025

The government app EVO has surpassed 70 thousand downloads in 2024, and 25 thousand users are already benefiting from all the functionalities through MPass authentication. The Agency of Electronic Government (AGE) says in a response to an IPN press request that the app is in the process of being updated and developed, with a new pre-scheduling module already released and integration with MIA instant payments as a payment method in EVO being finalized. Likewise, a new module - powers of attorney, is being tested, to be launched in early 2025.

According to AGE, progress is being made on version 2 of the EVO app, which will include a complete redesign of the app based on feedback received from citizens. In addition, new functionality will be introduced. EVO 2.0 will provide the possibility to manage more than 100 permit documents and licenses currently available in the Automated Information System for the Management and Issuance of Permit Documents (SIA GEAP), manage documents resulting from the provision of public services and remote business registration for simple scenarios where there is only one founder.

AGE also states that advanced security measures have been implemented to protect users' personal data and prevent fraud. These include MPass - an authentication mechanism that ensures secure user access to personal data and services, and user sessions are protected with PIN and biometrics. Similarly, only essential personal data is kept on the phone, and HTTPS/TLS protocols are used for data in transit, which encrypts data exchanges between client and server, ensuring secure communication.

Furthermore, for data display, EVO uses the MConnect interoperability platform, which logs access to personal data in MLog (a secure mechanism for recording events/transactions taking place in information systems). Citizens can thus see the history of access to personal data in EVO and MCabinet.

With regard to electronic signature, AGE encourages its use and emphasizes the importance of digital identity in accessing electronic public services. So far, about 200 thousand citizens have an electronic signature. To increase its take-up, AGE says it is developing additional solutions, including a dedicated mobile app - EVOSign, available for those who already have an electronic signature.

According to STISC, the number of valid public key certificates currently exceeds 316 thousand, and the number of public key certificates issued in 2024 - 174 thousand.
